All About the "Paper Girls"

Original mixed medium collages are comprised of multi-colored handmade and textured papers (archival and almost all made here in Maine by Virgina Sarsfield).  D'Alessio tears shapes to form the base of the “Paper Girls."  Then, photographed multiple times, he produces an ultra chrome print on canvas or paper, collages it with paint, paper, ink and found objects to add more textures and elements to the final attitudes.

In these works,  inspired by the styles and attitudes of all women the artist tries to capture the gestures and moods that fashion a look that crosses all cultural and social restraints to find the true internal phenomena of the feminine.  In each piece he hopes all of us can find something of ourselves and the women we love.

Along with Russell's passion to paint he has always had the drive to create through the print medium.  He studied printmaking in art school and apprenticed at several print shops exploring many different techniques including lithography, offset, and screen printing.  His thirty years of printmaking continues as he executes the fine art of reproducing his own giclee prints. Owning the finest equipment available Russell calibrates his own colors to expertly match the original.  Each is hand worked to make them one of a kind pieces of art, hand coloring, collages, or mixed media.  He prefers working in small editions from as few as 1 to a small run of 100.  He prints with museum quality archival inks on archival papers and canvas tested for up to 125 years.
